In-School Support

At Fun Development our Specialist Tutors are experienced in supporting children within their school or nursery to provide additional support to build on the skills they've gained during our one to one sessions at home (please see Speech, Language & Communication Support).

How do we support your child in school?

We are proud to be working alongside numerous mainstream primary schools in Solihull, Warwickshire and further afield. We have a track record of building strong working relationships with teachers and nursery staff, enabling us to share ideas and strategies that work across both home and school. We can also support and advise teachers with our specialist knowledge and expertise to aid the valuable work they are doing in the classroom...

The support can vary depending on the needs of the child and may include:

- One to one support implementing NHS speech and language therapy targets

- Support and advice around implementing structured work systems e.g. visual timetables, TEACCH, etc.

- Support and advice around managing sensory needs at school and sensory diet ideas

- Supporting behaviour strategies alongside communication needs

- One to one support implementing IEP targets, set by school

Once we have built a relationship with the child in their home environment we find that there are many benefits to holding regular sessions in the child's school or nursery, including helping the child to put their skills into practice in other environments and sharing good practice with all professionals involved with the child. Through discussion and agreement with parents and school we make arrangements that are convenient to all involved. Working together in this way affords benefits not only to the child and to the school staff, but also to the parents, as they feel part of a larger team all working together for the best interests of the child.

Where do we provide in-school support?

We cover nursery settings and schools within Warwickshire, Solihull and the surrounding areas including Solihull, Shirley, Knowle, Dorridge, Balsall Common, Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth and Stratford. Please contact us if you are unsure whether we cover your area.

What if my child doesn't attend a school?
